Is it affordable? Will I make more from using it than it costs me? Is it the best value for money compared with other similar products. All things I’ll be covering in this article about the Thrive Academy Pricing Model
ThriveCart is best known for its lifetime pricing model on the main checkout platform. Thrive Academy pricing is different – it’s a monthly subscription. That’s a shift for ThriveCart, and it’s worth understanding why before you decide which plan makes sense for your situation.

Before looking at what separates the plans, here’s what you get across all three:

The six community spaces, gamification, and built-in video hosting alone put Thrive Academy well ahead of what ThriveCart Learn ever offered (and that’s on the cheapest plan.)
What Changes Between Thrive Academy Plans?
The difference between Thrive Academy Starter & Growth Plan
The two things that move the needle most between Starter and Growth are custom domain and CSV data exports.
A custom domain means your community lives at your URL rather than a ThriveCart subdomain. If you’re running a paid membership, that brand consistency matters.
CSV exports are more useful than they sound. If you want to build automations that respond to member engagement levels – say, a re-engagement email when someone hasn’t logged in for three weeks – you need access to the data. The Growth plan gives you that.
Growth also unlocks AI quiz generation, which can save real time if you create a lot of course content.
The other big difference is the number of students you can support. The Starter plan limits you to 2000 students where as the Growth Plan can support 10,000 stduents. As someone who has almost 20K students, that instantly disqualifies it for me. So before you decide , check how many active students you currently have inside your course platform.
The Main Differences Between the Thrive Academy Growth and Scale Plans
For $30 more per month, Scale unlocks unlimited members, white-label branding, multiple branded communities, unlimited video storage, 4K streaming, AI analytics, a conversational AI tutor, team access, and early access to new features.
That’s a lot for $30. If you’re running a serious community business – or you’re planning to – Scale is the obvious long-term plan. At $97/month it sits right alongside Circle Professional ($89/month) and Skool ($99/month) in terms of price, but with ThriveCart’s checkout power built in. It also offers some extra features they don’t making it good value for money.
Which Thrive Academy Plan Should You Choose?
Start with Starter if:
- You’re launching your first community and want to keep costs down
- You have fewer than 2,000 members and 10 communities
- You’re not worried about white-label or custom domains yet
- You just want to get moving and test the platform
Go with Growth if:
- Custom domain matters to you
- You want access to member data for follow-up automations
- You’re past 2,000 members or expect to get there reasonably soon
- You want AI quiz generation to save time on content
Choose Scale if:
- You’re running a serious membership business
- You have over 10K students already or expect to reach those numbers soon
- You want unlimited members and multiple branded communities
- White-label branding is important for your positioning
- You have a team that needs admin access
- You want the AI analytics and conversational tutor features
Personally, for most people, I’d recommend starting on the Growth plan. The custom domain and data exports are worth the extra $30/month once you’re past the very early testing phase. And if things take off, Scale at $97/month is a no-brainer upgrade.
I will personally be starting with the Scale plan because I have too many students to be able to choose one of the lower plans. But I’m ok with that because I am confident that I will make more in sales than I spend by delivering better more community focussed offers leading to more repeat customers and repeat sales.
How Does Thrive Academy Pricing Compare to Alternatives such as Skool, Circle, Kajabi or Mighty Networks?

Thrive Academy starts at less than half the price of Skool and Circle – and significantly less than Kajabi. That gap is even bigger when you factor in that Kajabi charges transaction fees on their Basic plan and Skool charges transaction fees on top of the monthly fee!
I should add that Skool does have a $9 a month plan which looks cheap on paper but comes with a whopping 10% transaction fee so it will likely end up costing you a LOT more than Thrive Academy’s starter plan which has no transaction fees at all.
Lets do the Skool vs Thrive Academy maths… if you are making more than $300 a month (and therefore paying Skool $9 + $30 in transaction fees) it’s already more cost effective to get Thrive Academy’s starter plan.
Is There a Free Trial?
Thrive Academy doesn’t currently offer a standard free trial for new users. However, if you are joining during launch month (may 18th-June18th 2026) then you will get access to a 14 day free trial.
Existing ThriveCart Learn and Learn+ users are getting between 2 and 6 months free as part of the migration – Learn users get 2 months free (plus 1 extra for sharing), Learn+ users get 4 months free (plus 2 extra for sharing).
Existing Thrivecart users will be asked to sign up for the scale plan to start their free trial. This is so that you get access to the full feature suite. But Thrivecart have said that it does not lock you in to the scale tier at the point your trial ends. Instead you will choose the best plan for you or decide to opt out of the paid community/gamification features entirely.
Is Thrive Academy Worth The Cost?
At $37/month for the Starter plan, I think yes – for most course creators and community builders. You’re getting a community layer, built-in video hosting, gamification, proper analytics and ThriveCart’s native checkout all in one place. And this is substantially less expensive than other similar platforms, especially when you take transaction fees into consideration!
The thing that makes it so compelling isn’t just the price but the checkout integration. No other community platform gives you ThriveCart’s checkout sophistication – one-click upsells, bump offers, full affiliate management – natively built in. If you’re already a ThriveCart user, the case is even stronger.
Is it perfect? It’s brand new, so probably not yet. But ThriveCart isn’t a startup. They have 24,000+ existing Learn accounts and 13 million+ student enrolments. They’re building on something that works.
Personally I’m excited and planning to jump in on the scale tier.
What happens if I have more than 2000 students in Learn?
I’ve been chatting to the Thrivecart team about this because I have 19000 students but not all are active as some came via free bundles and giveaways. I probably still have more than 10K active students so it’s likely I’ll need the Scale plan but I wanted to understand if I had the option?
They gave me the impression that there would be options such as archiving some students who are inactive. So it is possible you won’t need the highest tier.
If you are moving over from Learn, you will get a free trial and hopefully by the time the free trial has ended, you will have a good idea of how many active community members you have and which plan you will need..
